Rolo is a popular cup-shaped caramel chocolate sweet that is sold in circular tubes. It's currently produced by Nestlé in the UK, at the Fawdon factory in Newcastle upon Tyne. In the U.S., they are produced by The Hershey Company.

Mackintosh's was founded by John and Violet Mackintosh in 1890, and was originally based in Halifax, Yorkshire, England. Starting in 1937, it was Macintosh's who first produced Rolo chocolates before the company eventually became Rowntree-Mackintosh in 1969. The company was bought out by Nestlé in 1988.
If you're over a certain age, then you will remember the Last Rolo TV adverts which aired from 1980 to 2003, and featured the slogan "Do you love anyone enough to give them your last Rolo? It featured an artist drawing an animated sketch of a boy and his cute girlfriend sat on a bench, and the girl has just one Rolo left, but does she love him enough to give him her last one?

There was an award-winning classic TV advert with an elephant and a boy that aired in the 90s, and is based on the "elephants never forget" saying. A cute baby elephant gets fooled by an objectionable young boy. He offers the elephant a Rolo, but then teases it by greedily eating it himself.
Decades later, the boy is now an adult and is watching a parade in which the elephant (now an adult) is taking part. The elephant gets his revenge! You can watch this advert below...
In May 2011, the McDonald's burger chain created a Rolo McFlurry, which combined chocolate pieces and caramel sauce to simulate the taste of Rolo chocolates. Sadly, it was only available for a limited time.
The milk chocolate and toffee dessert is available to buy from some branches of Waitrose, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Iceland.
In 2012, Nestlé launched a Rolo biscuit made from Rolo caramel combined with chocolate and pieces of biscuit. Each biscuit is individually wrapped.
It tasted delicious, but sadly the Rolo Chocolate Sponge Cake which was sold by Asda is no longer being produced. The sponge was layered and covered with a chocolate frosting, with a hidden toffee sauce centre. It was decorated with chocolate drops, mini Rolo pieces and toffee sauce.
In 1999, Nestlé launched a Rolo Cookies flavour, which featured toffee and crunchy cookie pieces in delicious milk chocolate cups. It was discontinued around 2002.
Featuring a deep blue wrapper, Rolo Coconut featured an unusual coconut flavoured toffee filling, which was definitely an acquired taste!
Rolo Toffee Yogurts are currently available to buy at Morrisons and Asda supermarkets. Each pot contains 68% milk and is free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.
